Mandy Cricket - kindle 3, kindle 3 covers

I ordered this accessory kit for my Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device on a whim. I already have the Kindle Leather Cover, but thought it might be handy to have some additional choices. So after receiving it and testing out everything here is what I can say about it all:

~ The Black, White, Blue & Purple Skins all fit very well and have the appropriate cut-outs. I like the feel of them and can see how these might be preferred to the leather case in some situations. Also because of the cut-outs you can still attach it to your regular Kindle case with the skin on.

~ Auto Car Charger works well and came in handy recently when I realized on the way to work that my battery was dead.

~ Home Wall Charger works just as well as the original one that came with my Kindle.

~ Screen protectors look like they fit just fine, but I don't feel a need to cover my screen so I haven't used them.

~ USB data cable worked for transferring a couple MP3 songs onto my Kindle.

~ Headphones although not the most comfortable ones, sounded good enough for occasional use.

When you consider buying all of these accessories separate, you would expect to pay much more for them which is what really sold me on it. I think this would make an excellent gift for the Kindle owner whether that is yourself or someone else. CrazyOnDigital Kindle 3 3G 3rd Generation Essential Accessory Kit. Bonus wristband inlcuded

I ordered this with a new Kindle for the purple skin, because it was cheaper than buying a full Kindle cover. Most of the other items are unnecessary: a USB cable and wall charger already come with the Kindle, and it has a built-in speaker, so the headphones are not required. As for a car charger, are you going to be reading books while you drive? Finally, the skins themselves have two of the page-turn arrows pointing the wrong way. You just have to ignore them and remember that the big button goes forward and the little button goes backward.

I bought this because it is cheaper than buying them all separately. Since I was the first to buy a kindle where I work, I gave/sold 3 of the covers since I only needed one (they do fit nice over the K-3, gives variety of colors, and keeps the K-3 from slipping from your hand). The bracelet was not necessary, the earphones are cheaply made, and I didn't want the screen protector on it (too hard to read, put on). Out of all that packaged deal I probably would only order a car charger, the rest is what you personally feel you want/need. I don't use my cover anymore because I bought a nice leather cover from Splash, but it is handy to put on if I'm not taking the K-3 anywhere. But since I'm a person that likes 2 of almost everything, I kept most of what was in this package! - Kindle 3 - Skins - Value - Kindle 3 Covers'

Confetti Shredder - paper shredder, confetti shredder

This shredder is simply amazing! Although it is only rated at a modest 7 sheets, which it will digest quite easily, it is still an impressive machine. I was particularly interested in it because of the MicroShred feature. Most standard cross-cut shredders cut pieces a little too large for my preference. This thing reduces paper to tiny particles - and I do mean tiny! They are about 1/6 the size of a typical cross-cut shredder! I've never seen anything quite like it - they look like small gravel in the basket. Putting 7 sheets of 20-lb paper thru it was no effort at all for this machine. It's also extremely quiet -- it hums rather than growls.

The CD and credit card shredder is a separate, strip-cut slot which can also devour thick pieces of unopened junk mail without missing a beat. The CD shreds drop into a small tray which sits on top of the paper basket. If you need high sheet capacity, consider its big brother the MS-460Cs, which cuts 10 sheets but carries a much higher price tag. But for a typical home or small office, this machine has plenty of capacity. Fellowes Powershred MS-450Cs Safe Sense 7-sheet Confetti Cut Shredder

If it shredded any finer I'd call it powder. I never expected such a high degree of security from a home shredder. Fellowes calls the MS-450Cs output "confetti"; I think it's more like sawdust! Like me, if you're sick of screening each page to tear the corner with the staple off before you feed it in, then this is the shredder for you. The MS-450Cs puts a smile on my face each time it quietly - very quietly - munches on small staples. A small price to pay for personal peace-of-mind.

It's called a Confetti Cut shredder but it's more like a micro cut. Really fine pieces, almost to a dust. My only objection is that some of the important parts are made of flimsy plastic. I had to send the first one back because of broken parts. Other than that this is an excellent shredder. I would recommend but be careful sliding the trash can back after cleaning.

It's a great shredder if all you have is a few pieces of paper to shred.

But if you have lot's of items to shred this puppy won't get the job done. The machine will only shred for 5 minutes before it heats up and stops working. They don't tell you until you read the manual that it won't run longer than 5 min. It does do a great job of pulvorising documents and is really quiet, but if you need to shred a lot of documents you'll be shredding for quite some time. Better off getting one of those shredders that cuts you documents in bigger stips.

But I have to say it is cool to see it shred paper into bits LOL

My recomendation is to try one out at a store before you make your decision.

My beloved 450cs has finally given up the ghost, a little over two years from the time I bought it (of course it exceeded the excess warranty I purchased from Staples). It appears to be so well jammed up that the mechanism does not move when paper is inserted into it, though the detector still detects paper so that the engine activates. I have used it in a semi-commercial way, for large scale shredding of a lot of stuff in the basement. Often these days, after a half hour or so, the engine overheats and the machine needs to rest. Unlike some, it has a red indicator light that indicates that it is overheated, and if I let it rest for 5-10 minutes or so, I can resume. I am not happy to have to put this to rest, as I wanted more years out of it. Still, I am considering buying another, as it is the best shredder I have ever owned, except for my Fellowes strip cut shredder that I use in my office. And which, of course, they don't make anymore.

I felt like I was overpaying for this when I bought it (not here, for $200), but it even feels like a value at that price. My only complaint about the machine is that it does not live up to its advertised billing of a 7-sheet capacity. I think I can get seven sheets shredded if they are inserted exactly right, but it often balks. Still, paper tends NOT to jam, the opposite of every shredder I have ever used. The most it would take would be a gentle tug with some pliers and even the overload went right through. Considering I have spent literally hours unplugging some low grade models (the Office Depot Ativa comes to mind) this was really unbelievable. And all of the things that others are saying are true. It is SO QUIET!! I have never used a shredder while my daughter is going to sleep without disturbing her! And the microshredding is very easy to bag for recycling. The childproofing (and adult-proofing) apprears to work really well -- the maching does not work if a finger gets to close to it.

I am favorably impressed and expect this unit to last. It seems well built and fundamentally better than any shredder I've ever used, even at the higher price. I am probably going to buy another one for my office. - Cross Cut Shredder - Confetti Shredder - Paper Shredder - Fellowes Shredder'

This review is from: Garmin nvi 1250T 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with TrafficI purchased this device because I have to travel from one city/job to another during rush hour on a daily basis. If I chose the 'right' route, and traffic was fine, I'd be on time. Otherwise... well, needless to say it was very stressful making the drive. Online traffic was obsolete within 15 minutes of getting out on the road. This GPS is very easy to use. It checks the traffic very frequently (maybe constantly?). I haven't had it long but already it has sometimes directed me to get off the freeway and take an alternate route. Happily, it lets me know a change is needed before I am even aware that there is a problem up ahead. I no longer stress about traffic, straining to see what may lie ahead; I know I'm taking the best route available, so that's that! The downsides- it automatically switches to a dimmer setting when it is night. It is too dim for me, and I have yet to figure out how I might stop it from doing that. I can change the brightness when it happens, but it's hard to do when I can hardly see the screen. In fairness, I have read NOTHING from the manual; just started using it out of the box, and this is the only problem I've had as far as working the device goes. It is very easy to use. Occasionally, the device has lost satellite reception when there has been inclement weather. So far that has only affected reception for traffic, it has been very brief, and the map feature has still worked (the trip was already plotted). I still understand it as an indication that if I were to take a longer trip, it makes good sense to print a map from online (as a backup) before I go. For an extended trip, be aware that it gave a time of arrival, but not a day of arrival (unless I should have read the manual to learn to switch views or something). Lastly, it does appear to consider the speed limit when calculating arrival time. However, I think that it does not consider traffic lights. Add in whatever minutes you anticipate needing for that purpose, as there seems to be a slight underestimation in travel time. It still gets me to work faster than I was getting there on my own, so overall I am THRILLED with this purchase. If anything happened to my Garmin, I'd purchase another one immediately. It has been well worth the price in stress reduction and making me look wonderful as the employee who is now always early! UPDATE 2 months later: Well, the voice just went out on the unit. :( I finally opened the manual and it is under warranty for a year, through Garmin. I'm going to follow their directions to send it back, and I will update again here about what happens. I guess because the other reviewer had more problems, I won't be sad if I end up just getting a refund and getting a different Garmin unit, but the manual does state that it is the company's choice whether to fix it or send a refund....

This review is from: Garmin nvi 1250T 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with TrafficThe key to making sure you have a trouble free experience with this unit (or any other Garmin unit) is to purchase a USB linking cable such as the "Garmin USB Cable by Garmin" ( currently less than $5.00 on Amazon site) at the same time and as soon as you get the unit connect it to a computer USB port and let it charge up for at least 30 minutes. 30 minutes plugged into the port should make sure the battery is charged enough for updates since the unit will need to cycle off and back on under battery power when the GPS is updated.Or, if desired, you can also purchased an A/C adaptor (not included in the box) and plug it into the wall for about an hour to charge the battery. The key is to make sure the battery is charged in some way BEFORE you do anything else. The only power cable in the box to operate/charge the Nuvi-1250t is a car adaptor! Then log onto the Garmin website and register your GPS. When you register it and follow the instructions to hook up your GPS, the computer will link with your unit and tell you there is a SOFTWARE update available for your GPS. Actually, there are probably several. Perform the software update first even though it should show a free map offer update also. This might take a while depending on your internet connection but it's FREE and it makes sure you should not have pro...
