This review is from: Smartparts SP800WS 8-Inch Digital Picture Wood FrameI ordered the SmartParts 8" frame from amazon and got it right away, in perfect shape. Two years ago, I got a digital photo frame from Edge Tech Corp. I was happy to see that things have progressed since then. The SmartParts frame was much easier to work with. What wasn't clear to me from the description is that the SmartParts frame has internal memory for pictures as well as accepts an SD flash card. So I purchased the SD card and really didn't need it. Of course, if you have a camera with an SD card, then you can just insert that into the frame and away you go. No messing with PC software. I integrated scanned pictures, pictures from other family members and my own pictures, so I had to load them individually. This frame is very basic -- no battery, just the power adapter which must be plugged in, no remote control. It accepts jpeg pics. I haven't loaded a video yet so I don't know which files it accepts. I don't see anything about mp3 files (the old Edge frame did allow mp3 files for music). The SmartParts frame comes with its PC software installation program loaded on the internal memory. Then it downloads software from the Web. The software is pretty simple ... drag and drop pictures and then optimize them and copy them to the frame. I experimented with the SmartFit feature and it did not work well at all. If I dragged/dropped more than 1 or 2 photos and try to use this feature, my pc would hang. Finally, I just did 1 photo at a time and this worked okay except that the display was weird. Pink squiggly lines appear to show you what portion of the picture is going to be cropped but sometimes the resulting photo was not displayed. Even when everything looked good and I accepted the SmartFit changes, I would still find a photo with a head chopped off or even weirder ... the middle of the photo would be removed and picture subjects had no stomachs or were missing parts of their faces, etc.I blew off SmartFit and just optimized all the photos and copied them to the frame. All looks good now -- no missing heads. Since this frame is wider horizontally than vertically, landscape pictures look much better on it. Pictures that you rotate are small and squenched in the middle of the frame. I kind of realized that going into this so this did not surprise me.This frame was $79 and is just as good as the $200+ Edge frame I purchased 2 years ago. Technology has really improved. Again, this frame is very basic but also very economical....

This review is from: Smartparts SP800WS 8-Inch Digital Picture Wood FrameAspect ratio is 3:2, not 4:3--doesn't fit my pictures. Resolution is 800 x 480, not 800 x 600....

This review is from: Smartparts SP800WS 8-Inch Digital Picture Wood FramePurchased 3 of this company's frames in mid-2008 - 1 for our own use, 2 as gifts to family members. All 3 failed within 2 months after the end of the warranty. The warranty is only 90 days - Buyer BEWARE! They don't last much longer than that either. A letter to the manufacturer got a reply that they would be happy to exchange the current units and replace them with a refurbished unit - for an additional fee of about half what we had paid for them originally. No way will we ever buy another one of these frames, or put another penny into getting them replaced. The warranty is way too short, and their products can barely make it past the warranty period before they die....

Carrying Case

I recently compared many brands and styles while looking for a larger CD case for my collection. I ended up deciding on this one, as it seemed preferable to all other options I've looked at. The "pages" hold 92 CDs, and there are an additional 8 slots inside the front cover, making for a total capacity of 100. The clear plastic makes it easy to quickly flip through and find what you're looking for, and yet the slots are still sturdy enough to hold the CDs in place and afford some protection - I've seen other cases that are so flimsy the CDs will just fall right out of their slots at the slightest disturbance. And for its large storage capacity, this case is still of a size that lends itself to portability - whereas the models that hold 128+ CDs begin to get rather ungainly. The handle on the spine is also nice, making it easy to carry. I would highly recommend this product. Case Logic CDW-92 Nylon CD/DVD Wallet 100-Capacity (Black)

Seems like one aspect most other reviewer are missing is the binder. The binder that holds the sleeves in is what sold me on this case. I own 5 other larger cases that hold 280+ discs with metal rings and 3 hole sleeves. While the higher capacity is nice the sleeves tend to rip off the binder and you end up having to buy replacements.

Not with this case though, the sleeves are held in by 2 wide plastic "rings" keeping the sleeve very secure on there. I have very little worry that the sleeve would rip out of the binder in a case where you flip too fast.

Other than that I actually put a CD book/insert into a slot and put the disc in the same slot and it fits well. A little snug, but not to the point where I stretch the plastic or anything. This is great for PC games where the CD Key is printed on an insert, I can put it all in the binder and not have to worry about losing all those #'s.

All around, feels like good quality, case logic usually does. It's not flawless, but I haven't seen much better.

if you dont mind the size of this cd holder then its pretty good. i got it for $14.99 on sale and so far its worked pretty decently for me. it has extra pockets on the side that can hold a couple of extra cds/dvds. the only problem that i could see is the pages, they seem a lilttle flimsy when i turn it, but it seems to hold up. not bad for the price

I read the previous reviews regarding this item and definitely agree that it was a good choice. I carry it in my car and the sleeves are easy to pull the CD from but also tight enough to keep them secure. I would buy this product again as well as recommend it highly.

This case is designed with ease of use in mind. The new binder system that is used within this case makes turning pages very simple.

The oval shaped rings are now plastic instead of cheap metal. This means that instead of warping with pressure, it bends and regains its shape.

This wallet does lay flat on a service to allow for quick and easy access to all 100 discs.

There is only enough page slots to hold 92 discs in the wallet, the other 8 that it holds go in the front of the wallet for "now playing" storage.

This cd case is an excellent companion in the car, and it is the best i have found that holds 92 cd's. Although it is a little bulky, it can always be set in the backseat or in a closet. If you have a large cd collection, case logic is definitly your best bet.

I bought six of these to store all my CD's for work (and I've got a lot of CD's). At first I was concerned that they might be too big to fit neatly in my standard corporate Steelcase cubicle's desk drawer since Amazon lists the dimensions at 8.1 x 12.7 x 3.5 inches. Fortunately for me, Amazon's dimensions are *wrong*. By my ruler, the actual dimensions of the Case Logic CDW92 nylon CD wallet are 7.75" x 11.5" x 3.4". With the longest dimension being 11.5", I can place the CDW92's 11.5" length across the width of my 12" wide desk drawer. At 3.4" thick (it might bump up to 3.5" when filled, I haven't tried it yet), seven of these will fit nicely in a 24" long drawer. Fortunately, these *do* have sturdy nylon handles (you can't see it in the picture here or at Case Logic's website), so pulling them out of the drawer is easy. (See my pics in the customer images section).

Highly recommended if you need to store a lot of CD's in a desk drawer.

This item is perfect for a growing CD or DVD collection. Disks can slide into and out of the pockets easily and there is a section inside the front cover that fits about 10 disks. I would recommend this to any music or movie enthusiast.'

Sony Internet TV for wide variety of streaming media and other Internet content

This review is from: Sony BRAVIA KDL40EX520 40-Inch 1080p LED HDTV, BlackSony BRAVIA KDL40EX520 40-Inch 1080p LED HDTVWe almost bought the less-costly Sony 40" KDL-40EX500 Bravia, but didn't because that model has been on the market since 2005. Instead, we bought this recently introduced EX520 which has later technology (e.g., back lighting); in spite of it having no Amazon customer ratings at the time. We looked at TVs in several local stores and no model in this size-range had a better picture than the Sony Bravia. Consumer Reports labels the 40" Bravia's picture (high definition and standard) as "excellent", their highest rating.Taking advantage of a 30-day free trail of Amazon Prime, the TV arrived in only 2 days. It's well packaged, and I attached the stand to the TV in short order without needing the instructions. Turn it on the first time, and it goes through a question and answer setup procedure; e.g., it asks if it's against a wall or in the middle of a room so it can adjust the sound accordingly. After the setup, it worked perfectly with no adjustments of any kind.Pros:- Outstanding picture; stunning even. The entire screen is vivid with life-like skin-tones, can be viewed from a reasonable angle, and action shots are smooth.- Sound is crisp, clear, and realistic - excellent in my estimation for a TV; speakers are along the top & bottom of the unit's rear, so it's actually louder in back of the set than in front. We have it on a stand in the middle of a large room, 8 to 9 feet from our easy chairs. Having played trumpet in various bands for nearly 50 years, my hearing isn't what it used to be; so decent sound was just as important as picture quality. Our backup plan, if the sound had stunk, was to buy an auxiliary BOSE sound system; but that would only be needed for true high fidelity sound.- For connection to a wired network, this model can be directly connected to your router and the only thing you'll need to buy is the cable. Sony recommends Cat 7 cabling.- The included stand is quite nice. The TV can be swivelled 20 degrees right or left.- More connectivity options than most people will ever use.Cons:- For a wireless LAN connection, you'll need to buy an [over-priced] SONY proprietary device called a "USB Wi-Fi Adapter". Search Amazon on: UWA-BR100- Although this model's 60 hz refresh rate seems fine to us, you might want to look for a 120 hz TV if you watch lots of really fast action.- The TV cannot be tilted up or down if it's on the table stand. (Curiously, the Bravia made for Mexico can be tilted up to 6 degrees, but that model uses a different stand.)Other:- If the TV will be on a table, securely anchor the stand-base TO the table; this is crucial if you have small children. (From 2000-2005, there were 36 TV-tip-over deaths in the U.S. and three thousand injuries to kids under 5). This TV is so light, it could easily be knocked over, or pulled over by a rambunctious youngster. I.e., the stand weighs 6 lbs. and the TV only weighs 25 lbs. Even if will be no kids around, a tip-over could seriously damage the TV, which wouldn't be covered by any warranty.- Many large LCD TVs on Amazon have some Customer Reviews citing maintenance issues with THEIR unit after the warranty expired. If this is a concern, consider buying a Square Trade 4-year warranty via Amazon (as we did).Summary:With its excellent picture, sound, and connectivity features, our Bravia 40" TV is a 5-star product.

This review is from: Sony BRAVIA KDL40EX520 40-Inch 1080p LED HDTV, BlackWe were totally pleased with the quality and delivery of the TV, the only reason it didn't get a 5 star rating was because it advertised on Amazon that it was Skype ready but failed to inform you that you could only use the Sony web cam which they haven't put on sale, as at this time, and have no date for it's release. The TV itself gives a great quality picture but, although you can connect to the internet and the menu is great interface wise, the wireless capability is shockingly poor for such a Company. We find the connected WII works great with the TV and the quality is really good with a HDMI cable, the netflix wireless capability of the WII works at least 10 times as well as the in-built wireless of the Sony blu-ray we bought to use wireless with this TV, and from hearsay it is no better using the extra wireless USB you can buy for the TV, which should, in my view, come with it as it is over priced and poor quality, Sony 'needs' to improve the quality of the wireless device when you can pay twice as much...
