Usb Car Stereo

I bought and returned this unit. The main reason is because the screen is too bright, and the brightness cannot be adjusted. That means it cannot be adjusted in the menu and there's no illumination wire on the connector that can be controlled by the headlight setting.

The screen is very bright. Excellent on a sunny day but glaringly bright and distracting at night. The black background of the display is even washed out by the brightness to the point where it's not quite black when the unit is on.

Also this unit is lacking a High Pass Filter. My speakers were getting distorted at moderate to high volume levels. A HPF would solve this. This feature existed on its predecessor, the 3200.

Also lacking is the EQ. The 5-band graphic EQ from previous models has been replaced with a 3-band bass/mid/high.

On the plus side the mechanics on the 3300 are excellent. The buttons have a great tactile feel and there is plenty of grip length on the control knob. I tried out the 3200 in the store and the 3300 by comparison has better buttons.

But the brightness of the screen and lack of HPF were the real deal-breakers for me. I returned it and bought one of last year's models, the DEH-5200HD.

As for the DEH-5200HD it is an excellent unit. It has a HPF, which stops the speaker distortion and helps the overall sound quality. Plus the 5-band EQ allows for better fine tuning, and the brightness is adjustable. Finally, I found I really like the HD radio feature as it opened up additional FM channels that I didn't have access to before.

Overall I'd recommend buying a 2010 Pioneer model instead of their 2011 models. The 4300 also lacks a HPF, but at least the brightness can be tuned to 1 custom setting. It wasn't immediately clear though from my reading if the 4300 allows for a preset low/high setting. That could make switching brightness tedious.

Pioneer should always have a HPF and low/high brightness setting at the very least. In addition they should have an illumination wire on all their radios so brightness is set to low/high automatically when the headlights are turned on/off.

The DEH-5200HD is a better unit in my own experience, and based on looking at the specs their other 2010 models are a better choice than the 2011 models since they have removed the HPF and brightness settings. Pioneer DEH-3300UB CD Receiver with iPod Direct Control and USB Input

In general this is a decent entry-level car CD/USB/iPod receiver. One of the most important improvements in this model from the previous year's version was reworking the main function knob to a rotary encoder and push button only, with direction-pad functions moved to separate buttons. On the earlier unit, it would have been a frustrating game attempting to turn up the volume, for instance, without accidentally pushing the "joystick" and changing a track or station.

At this point in my ownership, the biggest drawback is the lack of AAC file support. If you're like me, you might be browsing several models that support MP3 and AAC (not to mention WMA) directly from a USB thumb drive, but fail to spot those that do *not* include AAC. Does this make (the DEH-3300UB) a bad product? No. But it feels a little bit like a fine-print gotcha.

This is a great radio. The availability of USB and AUX is a great feature. The only complaint I have is the equalizer is a bit limited in the number of selections. Other than that, the radio is definitely worth purchasing.

We love everything about this stereo...works perfectly with mp3 player, has great sound output. (We paired this stereo with Boss 200 watt marine speakers and installed them in our airboat-we put the stereo in a marine stereo housing unit), and we're very pleased with the sound...had to raise the treble level a little, but it sounds great to us! Great stereo for a great price!

I bought this CD player bc I can plug my HTC Evo in it, charge my phone and listen to the music on it. And it has an AUX jack so I can plug my phone up from the headphone jack and listen to Pandora Radio. It also comes with a handy remote control which I really liked bc I dont have to fool with trying to find the little buttons on the CD player while I am driving. The installation was pretty easy since I had an older pioneer CD player in it so I just had to connect the colored wires together. I really enjoy having this CD player. It's an awesome player for the price!

The radio plays, and the CD player works (I think), but it doesn't always hold radio stations in memory and the iPod part stopped working altogether withing a couple of weeks.

If that's important to you, I'd recommend saving up and getting a higher quality product.'

Leather Kindle Cover - kindle warranty, kindle

This is extending the Amazon warranty against product defects for ONE year NOT two years as it runs parallel to Amazons original one year warranty. The benefit of paying for this warranty is if you are like me and need accident protection for your device. The original amazon warranty does not protect against drops, spills, adventurous two year olds, etc...., where as this one does. So if you're clumsy, or seem to have bad luck with electronic devices, the $65 dollars is probably worth the cost. Also keep in mind that the warranty is ONLY valid in the US. 2-Year Extended Warranty for Kindle (6" Display, Free 3G, 2nd Generation) U.S. customers only

I had a Kindle die on me after about 8 months of solid use. I called Amazon and they cross shipped me out a new one on Christmas DAY! (Amazon is so great! Love them. Love the Kindle).

But with my bit of bad luck, I figured I should buy an extended warranty for mine and the wife's. Net Solutions sold a warranty to me for both units. Then AFTER I got the "contract" they suddenly decided to cancel it. Zap. Turns out Amazon will let you buy a warranty for a replacement Kindle but Net solutions will void it unless the replacement is shipped within 30 days of the original purchase. HEY! I'm not trying to rip anyone off. It's not like I got a Kindle, sat on it then decided to buy a warranty. My replacement kindle was still in transit. Are these guys so rich they don't need my money?

Then to add insult to injury I found out that the "2 year warranty" they let my wife have was no such thing!

The Kindle comes with a 1 year warranty. So you buy a 2 year extended warranty. Now do the math: 1 + 2 = ?

If you said 3 you would be wrong. In NetSolutions land 1 + 2 = 2

This item is misleadingly called a "2 year warranty" but it's really just a 1 year warranty that they tack onto the end of the Kindle's existing 1 year warranty.

As for the economics... It costs $65 which is about the industry standard 25% of purchase price - BUT - usually you really do get 2 extra full years of coverage PLUS the manufacturer's warranty. So this thing is way over priced. Typically these ripoff's are used about 3% of the time and you bet Net Solutions knows that. That's good coin for the seller but a bad deal for you. Unless of course you are one of those 3%. Then you will be happy you have it.

I guess it all depends on how clumsy you are, right?

You can get the exact same thing for free if you buy your Kindle with an AMEX card. AMEX will double the Amazon warranty and they do it for free.

I was about to purchase this warranty but wasn't sure if it covered the battery. So, I checked out the terms and what an eye opener. Good luck to anyone who can get a claim passed this small print. Come on Amazon, is this coverage worth about 25% of the cost of the Kindle with all of these exclusions?

Check this out for what IS NOT covered:

This service plan protects against operational failure of a covered Product if a failure occurs while connected to a surge protector approved by the Underwriter's Laboratory. Your surge protector may be collected by Us for examination.

This Contract Does Not Cover: A. Any equipment located outside the United States.

Damage or other equipment failure due to the failure to maintain the equipment according to the owner's manual instructions (except accidental damage from handling claims), abuse, vandalism, theft, fire, flood, wind, freezing, power failure, inadequate power supply, unusual atmospheric conditions, acts of war, acts of God or other force majeure events.

D. Service or replacement necessary because of improper storage, improper ventilation, reconfiguration of equipment, or the failure to place the equipment in an area that complies with the manufacturer's published space or environmental requirements.

E. Any utilization of equipment that is inconsistent with either the design of the equipment or the way the manufacturer intended

Q. Any cost recoverable under an insurance policy (in such case, this Contract will cover any applicable deductible).

Having been a manager for a large computer retailer I can tell you that the accidental portion alone is worth the price. So often people are weary of spending "extra" money for an insurance plan. Yes, you may never need it, but the one time you do, and you never purchased it, you'll regret it. I have had many customers with laptop problems like liquid-spill damage or LCD-screen "bleeds" and I've been able to do nothing for them because they did not have coverage. They are justifiably FURIOUS. They now have to spend $400 to $600 to fix thier laptop or they have to buy a new laptop and pay for a data transfer because they were not proactive enough about backing up thier data. Avoid all of this....Spend the 62 cents a week to protect yourself, especially if you travel or have children. And by the way....the "accidental" portion of the plan starts on day #1 (not day #366). Based on the regular warranty, the provider will not be interested in talking to you when you call to say that you dropped your Kindle and its not working. Best regards to all. Have a safe holiday season. - Customer Service - Leather Kindle Cover - Kindle - Kindle Warranty'

Monitor Extension Cables - monitor cables, computer cables

I have a really sharp Trinitron monitor which came with a decent quality video cable and text was sharp and clear. Recently I bought a new top-brand Geforce 4 Ti4800 video card and, after installing it, text became significantly ghosted. I later heard that the manufacturer used cheap parts which degrade the signal at high frequency (above 60Hz) when used in 2D (i.e. text) mode. I had to switch to 60 Hz to get sharp text, which still wasn't as sharp as it was with my previous graphics card running at 85Hz. Every step above 60Hz became increasingly ghosted. 85Hz and higher is much easier on the eyes, so I searched for a VGA cable to replace the one that I thought was pretty good. I decided to try a mid-priced cable, this Startech model. I liked their site and felt confident that they were selling a quality product. I connected it and PERFECT! I was back to sharp, clear text at 85Hz (and all the way up to 144Hz). This is an excellent cable for a great price and if you suffer with blurry text or ghost images, please give this one a try. StarTech 6-Feet Coax High Resolution VGA Monitor Cable - HD15 M/M (MXT101MMHQ)

I currently use an ATi x800 video card with two LCD displays, one of which is VGA. For the past year or so, I've been using a cable that came with the monitor, and recently, it's been causing all sorts of problems--color flickering, display signal loss, etc. When looking for a replacement VGA cable, this one caught my eye.

After installing it, I found that the picture quality and brightness was better than I remember originally, and all the previous problems were gone. I've never had a problem with ghosting, even with fast-paced FPS games, but I can say for sure that this cable doesn't ghost. It feels very well-constructed (is about twice the diameter of my previous cable), and comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. The only caveat is that because of its sturdy construction, the ends don't bend too well if you need to fit them in at an angle. Otherwise, excellent cable, and definitely far better than any in its price range!

Let me start off by saying I am happy overall with this purchase. A local electronic store wanted around $30 for a VGA cable, so this price is much better than that.

I bought this cable to connect my computer to the VGA socket on my new flat panel monitor.

However, my monitor VGA interface is reccessed, so that the cable needs to be bent perpendicularly in order to be plugged in.

Because the cable is so stiff, I had a hard time bending the cable so that it would plug in to the monitor.

Also, the screws wont screw in properly because of the bulkynes of the plug.

I've been using this cable now for over six months, and apart from the occasional unintentional unplugging, everything has been smooth.

I use this to connect my Sony Vaio to my HDTV (Samsung). The cord works really well to let me watch online shows on my TV through my computer.

Just a note for anyone struggling with hooking up their Sony: My TV initially would not recognize that there was any input. You may have to update some various things (go to the Sony website to get those upgrades that are specific to your type of laptop. I did this and still couldn't get it to work, but it at least saw that there was input, it just said something about not being able to use the data or something along those lines. After some fiddling, I changed one of the settings to 60Hz (sorry I can't remember exactly where it was, somewhere under Control Panel and then Other... it's the same place where you tell it to use two screens). That did it! I've been pretty pleased with the quality- it's not superfantastic like watching a bluray but definitely better than watching TV on my laptop.

This is a good quality cable for use with flat panel monitors. If you have tried a lesser quality cable as I have, you have probably experienced ghosting on the screen. It went away when I used this cable.

I tried to buy this product and went to best buy. This VGA to VGA cable was 32 or 34 dollars.

Though I wanted that immediately, but I did not want to encourage these unfair practices. This just reminded me the USB printer cables I bought in that store few years ago for 30 dollars and felt bad when I received USB cables with better quality free with my $15 backup drive.

I decided to wait and order for less than 6 dollars including shipping.

This product is good quality and works great.

Very good product, connects very easily to my laptop and TV. In hindsight, I would have opted for a longer cord but this one does the job so length is a minor detail at this point. Only downside is that the cord is unable to transfer audio from my laptop to the TV, so I am forced to either use the laptop's speakers or connect the speakers of my desktop to the laptop for better sound. - Monitor Cables - Monitor Cable - Computer Cables - Maintenance Management'

Cross Pendants - cross pendants

This is a nice cross for the money. The necklace part is a piece of leather cord that seems a bit to stiff for the wieght of this cross. It doesn't lay like it should, but I'm hoping after a break in period it will lay better. If it doesn't I will put this on a chian or softer piece of cord. Over all a nice value cross Stainless Steel Nail and Copper Wire Cross Pendant on Leather Cord by Bob Siemon, 30"

This is an excellent Cross.Other reviews have said that the Cross doesn't lay right because of the leather strap. This was true for me too.I bought the bigger Cross like this and it lays just like it should. With the cord being 30 inches the bigger Cross really looks great and more masculine. Both Crosses are great, but I prefer the bigger one.

Great valu!! This was a gift for my son. This was packed well in a neat little box, the shipping time was fantastic! He loved the cross, the craftsmanship was excellent.. but stuggled with the cord, it would not shape properly. We put the cross on another cord and he won't take it off! - Cross Pendants'

This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix S7000 6.3 MP Digital Camera w/ 6x Optical ZoomThis camera evokes love/hate relationship based on the numerous reviews and comments from users. So the bottom line really is the picture quality.Prior to owning this I had been an Nikon and Canon SLR user but like many, I also have to adapt to the current trend in using digicams. So before purchasing, I spent a whole month researching through the web, visited shops and get a feel of the current digicams on offer. In my quest for the best digicam for my needs, I have seen their output, held the camera itself and thoroughly inspected everything about them. Besides, Im spending U$600-700 so I really need the best for my needs. In those times, I have seen them all, and finally purchased the S7000.What about S7000? I must say that the picture quality of this camera is best at 6mp native resolution. Although it is capable of taking 12MP interpolated photos, I would personally skip that because at that resolution it does become noticeable noisy. However, pictures taken at 6MP and below are by far the best amonth the current offerings. I have tested the Minolta Dimage A1, Nikon coolpix 5700, Sony F707 and the Canon and by far the Fuji have the best color saturation, more natural, vibrant and crisp photos among these cameras. At U$650, you just cannot go wrong with the S7000. The other cameras mentioned here are even pricier and doesnt give all the extras that the Fuji can give. Right now, I am having a blast taking photos with this baby witout worrying about film development cost. It is a great way to learn the ropes about photography espcially in manual mode because as long as you have the memory, you can practice your skills endlessly. When I am done with it, I would like to upgrade to the Nikon D100 because despite the excellent features of s7000 it still is not perfect, but the s7000 is way ahead of the current Nikon, Canon, Minolta offerings at this price range.

This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix S7000 6.3 MP Digital Camera w/ 6x Optical ZoomNow that I've had the camera for several months its seems like a good time for an update, especially given some of the criticisms that have been leveled at the S7000.The short answer is that I still love the camera, even though it's not perfect. The long answer deserves some explanation.I have many years experience with 35mm film, but also many years experience with computers and computer graphics. Even today, film has capabilities that can't be matched with digital cameras, except possibly by cameras beyond the means of most people. On the other hand, digital photography has huge advantages in terms of immediate accessibility, cost per shot, electronic distribution, editing and enhancement, and the ability to control the printing process to get prints that look the way you want them to.My initial path into digital photography was to buy a film scanner and scan 35mm slides, which in some ways still represents the best of both worlds. But it is a time consuming and expensive (on a per shot basis) approach. My move into digital cameras has occurred in two steps. The first was to replace my "little" 35mm camera with a compact digital camera. For recording events and snapshot photography digital cameras became the preferred approach several years ago, and I'm on my second generation compact digital camera. I love being able to go to a family gathering, then go home and do a quick sorting and editing of the pictures, dump them on the web, and e-mail out a URL so everyone can see them while the gathering is still fresh in their minds.Replacing my 35mm SLR is a tougher problem, and one that hasn't been completely solved yet. The biggest issue I have is that the format of available digital sensors means that there are no really wide angle lenses available for reasonably priced digital SLRs. This, more than any other issue, keeps me from buying a digital SLR. I bought the S7000 as a way to get most of what my 35mm SLR does at a reasonable price, while retaining the 35mm SLR, the film in the refrigerator, and the film scanner as a backup until there is a digital SLR that comes close enough to my ultimate requirements that I'm willing to pay the extra money for it.The S7000 is a remarkably capable camera for the price. The wide end of the zoom is restrictive for me, but I have an adaptor and a Raynox 0.66x lens that help. A fast 1GB compact flash card makes it easy to take a lot of pictures at essentially zero marginal cost. It is true that the l...

One-year parts and labor warranty

This review is from: Samsung LN46B530 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTVWhatever you buy, you always want to get the most out of your money. So when I saw an LCD HDTV for only $330 in RadioShack. I had some doubts about whether it was a quality product. Especially since there is always concern about buying a brand name that the average consumer knows little about. Then I did some research on the. They are best known as Envision and are the world's largest display manufacturer of high quality monitors and are a leading brand in Europe. After seeing this close up in a brightly lit store. I knew if it looked good there it would play well in my living room. However it was playing with a blu-ray demo dvd. So I needed to see how it played in my home using cable TV. Knowing that Radio Shack has a 30 days No Hassle Refund Policy helped to reassure me with my purchase. A nice feature is that the base also allows the unit to swivel for a good viewing angle at any position in the room. Although to be best appreciated I would recommend sitting about seven feet away from the TV. After that your viewing angle should be fine from anywhere in the room. The AOC L32W961 is a 720p HTDV, but handles 1080p Inputs and will upconvert your standard definition DVDs using a uponverting DVD player. The 32" widescreen display that delivers an accurate 16:9 aspect ratio and up to 1366x768 resolution. This new model now has three HDMI connections which should be enough for most users. If not,you could always purchase an inexpensive HDMI adaptor to add more inputs. I attached the TV to a HD cable box and an upconverting DVD player using two HDMI cables from [...]. The remotes source button allows instant access of each connected component. Channel switching from SD to HD channels can be somewhat slow. However that is common with most HDTVs and HD cable boxes. The menu is easy enough to use to tune the picture and sound to your preferences. Using the remote , you are able to individually adjust each sound and pictures menu control with out having the entire menu on screen. Out of the box I raised the sharpness and lowered the backlight level. I adjusted the color temperature to cool and set the video noise reduction to off. The only time I have to make any adjustments is when I switch the backlight control up or down a few notches depending on the amount of light in the room at the time. The AOC has an auto contrast detection which automatically and accurately adjusts the picture. With the auto contrast detection set to on, the AOC's brightness and contrast controls seems to have little effect on the picture. The sharpness control does a fine job without adding any video noise. The picture is very detailed with the sharpness turned up just half way.Overall ,the AOC32961 shows extremely accurate color, with excellent brightness and contrast. The 6ms response time means the screen has no trouble with fast-moving, full-motion images. This is very important feature for watching sports or action movies. HD TV cable programming looks phenomenal. I get vivid color, and a bright and well detailed picture on this set. DVD's upconverted to 108oi/p look very well defined. The sound is a bit low with DVD's but it can still be set to adequate level for a standard size room. There's also a headphones input for private listening. The AOC also has a VGA input for use as a PC monitor. I have not used it that way. However I have seen videos of it on [...] showing it working very well as a PC montor. Switching between your various devices (DVD player, Cable Box, PC, TV) is extremely easy thanks to a source buton on the remote. Which brings up a list of the AOC's inputs. The current active input is higlighted in yellow. There are also buttons on the remote for each individual source input. The AOC L32W961 delivered very detailed black levels when I watched The Dark Knight DVD on a 1080p upconverting Panasonic DVD-S54 DVD player. While watching the night scenes shadow detail was very good. I could easily make out details in the Batmans black suit as he stood in the darkness. The AOC's accurate color helped make the different fles. Felsh tones very accurate. The few sunlit outdoor scenes from The Dark Knight look very bright and sharp. The Audio is better than I expected and sounds best using the "movie" preset setting.AOC seems very conservative when it comes to their specifications. However, I wouldn't be overly concerned with specifications. You will really need to see this TV and try to compare it to the major brand models costing about $150 more. If you do a blind t...

Photography - cab, fiber optic cables

What exactly is a fiber optic cable? It transports sound using a digital signal. In fiber optics, light is used to transport this digital data. The digital signal is made up of 1 and 0. 1 being light, 0 being no light.

I recommend using the Monster Standard Cables and always will. I actually did try different cables unlike most people who talk about the cables all being the same.

So how should I decide between buying a "high end" fiber optic cable and an ok one. Well, the fact that it is triple the cost of this cable kind of gets me. I purchased a top of the line, Monster Cable THX Ultra 1000, that was really expensive. The Ultra 1000 is more durable, and uses higher quality materials that transport the light more efficently. Yea it did sound slightly better. But if you plan on using it for a CD player or a cheaper surround sound system, you won't need the really expensive stuff. This does perfectly well. But even for me, I ended up returing the Ultra 1000. Why you ask? The quality didn't meet the price. Its not worth it unless you plan on building a top of the line home theater that you plan to use every day. For most people, this cable will be more than enough of an improvement that they'll notice the difference and be happy enough.

You should keep in mind that when you use surround sound, that in order to actually achieve the full 5.1 surround sound that you should use digital fiber optic cables for all the sound inputs that you can use it for. (CD players and video cassettes don't have 5.1, most only have 2.0/1.0 respectively)

Overall, I gave this Monster Standard cable a 5 because there is no 4.90.

Notes for new users of these cables:

- Make sure your DVD player or Cable/Satallite reciever has the fiber optic output, as a lot of the cheaper ones don't.

- Pull off the plastic protective coverings on each end of the fiber optic cables. These are there to protect the cable during transit/storage.

- Be careful not to bend the cables around too much or strtch them to meet the distance you want them to reach. Buy a longer one if you need to.

- If the black coating on the cable gets striped a bit, consider buying a new cable, as the damage allows light to seep out, thus, distoring the quiality.

© 2005 - David Chen - All Right's Reserved Monster THXI100FO8 THX Certified Toslink Fiber Optic Audio Cable (8 feet)

The first reviewer is somewhat correct. Don't spend too much on digital interconnect cables....the digital format is used so quality will not depend on the transfer medium, that's the whole purpose of digital.

I'm an electrical engineer, PCM audio for all intents and purposes is a pretty slow bitstream, you could use pretty cheap cable and not notice a difference. Just my humble opinion.

Ultimatly where it makes a difference is in the connector and the quality of the fiber. Since the signal doesn't have to travel a great distance, the quality of the fiber doesn't really matter all that much unless it's so bad that it actually attenuates the signal. But that's really bad! Second, the connector is the most important part of the cable. Since that is where the end of the fiber is and where the lite must leave the fiber, it has to be either clieved very well or highly polished so the signal is not refracted. All of this attention to detail adds to production so ultimatley, you get what you pay for. Paying $20.00 for a Monster cable is very reasonable. If you were to buy a professional cable you would pay close to $100.00, you don't see those cables on amazon.

I will let you know that you are wasting your money on this. I bought a similar cable from eBay for my Pioneer sound system for $8. I have to say that I could not see a single difference in performance. I really regret paying over a $30 for a cable. I just realized that its digital and not analog and the whole point of digital is to be uniform and consitant in the data being transmited so the medium doesnt count like old component cables, Save your money and just look on eBay or other cheaper types.

I needed extra Optical cables and could not have beating this one for the price i paid for this one. So much better then going to a Best Buy store and paying like triple or quadruple the price. Just a great Audio Cable if you need Great sound for your Home surround sound.

Must buy.

I had a problem with what I though was a decent fiberoptic cable I got from bestbuy. the problem was every time the screen goes white a hear an annoying noise in my speakers. I don't have this problem with this cable. and the sound quality is great. I got what I paid for

This cable is amazing i have the Logitech z-5500 and i bought that cable and the sound quality improved a lot i feel the sound harder and with more fidelity and is pretty but don't think is just another expensive cable. really its amazing! - Fiber Optic Cables - Photography - Cab'
