Monster Cable - power strip, monster cable

I've used Monster surge protectors in the past and had no reason to complain but when put to the test, this one totally failed me. This is your basic surge protector strip, with right angle plug and color-coded plugs for various audio-visual components. But does it give them sufficient protection? Unfortunately it did not for me. I was using it for my Tivo-TV combination and a bad storm one day fried the hard drive in my Tivo. So dock a few stars for it failing to properly protect my device. So now I get to experience this Monster warranty process. Suffice to say, you will be lucky if you get anything out of them, or can fulfill the requirements and 3 pages of information they want you to send them. In my case, I have a Tivo DVD that no one within several hundred miles of me is "authorized" to repair as they require, and they require an inspection of the damaged equipment by such a technician prior to filing a claim. I have to order a replacement part on the internet, which they don't accept and they won't reimburse after the fact. You also have to pay to send the surge protector back to them for inspection as well, so basically you have to spend a significant amount of money to file a claim and may get absolutely nothing out of it. So basically, the warranty in a lot of cases is of little use and not worth the trouble they put you through versus just paying for repairs yourself. So you can dock another star or two for that. So while I like the design of this surge protector, I probably will go looking for another one that will properly protect my equipment at least. Monster Cable MP AV600 Power Protector

On July 7 2007 I received from Amazon the Monster Cable MP AV600 Power Protector and the Belkin SurgeMaster Superior Series 8-Outlet Surge Protector (6', 1770 Joules). They both sold for about the same price. The Monster is vastly inferior. The Belkin has three times the Joules rating. The Belkin is much more attractive and well designed. The Monster is just a squarish standard strip that felt very cheap compared to the Belkin and worst of all the Monster had a bad rubber stink and the cord felt gritty. The Belkin had a smooth white power cord. My other mistake was to get the Belkin with the 6 foot cord , I realized a 12 foot cord was available after ordering. You will be MUCH happier with the Belkin. I will post this exact review with the Belkin as well. Last time I gave something 1 star Amazon did not display it. Maybe the higher end Monster models are nicer.

This item failed after one month of use.

There seem to be two breakers in this item:

The first one is tied to the "reset" button. This circuit is closest to the shared socket side.

The second one is tied to the "on/off switch". This circuit is closest to the wall side.

The on/off switch is still lit up.

However, none of the devices are getting power. The Reset button is useless and does not work.

This item will be returned.

During a recent blizzard (Michigan) a large electrical problem blew out 4 substations and a large number of transformers resulting a wide spread 12 hour+ power outage. The resultant surge toasted out my dishwasher and track lights. However, the Monster AV600 saved my expensive home theater setup, although the AV600 got toasted also. IT DID IT'S JOB and I give it the highest recommendation possible. Great product at a low price. Thanks Monster!!

Liked the color-coding on this power protector which made it easy to unplug exactly what i wanted without guessing which outlet it was connected to. Died after a year of use, all of a sudden burned out with an awful smell. There was no power fluctuation, we were just watching tv and all of a sudden everything turned off.

I really liked the design of this product - from the color coded outlets to the unit's plug which was elegantly turned at an angle. But 14 months after I purchased it it stopped working. The light on the unit comes on, but it just stopped putting out power. I would definitely not recommend.

Well, I should have looked at the reviews closer. Lasted maybe 3 months. Maybe. I am disgusted with this product and this company. Never again, please save your money and do not purchase Monster Power anything.

I had this about a year and mysteriously nothing plugged into it worked. Thought I had blown a breaker. Finally figured out this thing just suddenly stopped working... no reset.. no on/off.. just stopped working. Seems to be a lot of this happening with this strip. Now I have to spend more money on a good one.

I usually do not write reviews but this product is so bad I felt I had too. I bought 2; one failed within 3 months and the other in 4. You should spend a bit more and buy a better product that lasts. Thanks!

I recently purchased an LCD TV, and I wanted a decent surge protector for it. I discovered this one from Monster and it seemed like a reasonably affordable quality surge protector, so I purchased it.

The unit feels like it is of good quality, from the outlets to the body to the power cable. I have used other cheaper surge protectors, and this one feels more sturdy and durable. The right-angle plug is nice, since the cord doesn't stick straight out, allowing me to put the TV stand closer to the wall. Some labels were included with the surge protector, but I am not using them.

If you are looking for a simple quality surge protector that is not too expensive, I would recommend this. I normally consider Monster brand products to be somewhat overpriced, but this was a fairly good value for the price. - Power Strip - Audio Video - Monster - Monster Cable'

Fitness Power Tower - chin up bar, power tower

At under $100 this chin up/tricep dip is a great value. The item arrived without any damage and was easy to assemble with one person without any additional tools.

I am 240 lbs (250 is the weight limit for this equipment) and the feeling is solid during use. Stamina 1690 Power Tower

Just received this awesome purchase yesterday and I have to say I'm impressed. First off, the delivered packaging box was slightly damaged but thankfully nothing inside was harmed. Every nut, bolt, washer, etc. was intact and no missing parts! The tools needed to put the tower together were included. It will take about an hour or so to complete solo.

I'm 5'9 / 180lbs and it does not wobble during use for me. I did the push-ups, dips and pull-ups and it was stable throughout. As for the foam grips around parts of the handles, etc. they are comfortable for me. I don't have large hands so that's probably a factor. I also get a good reach / extension from the pull-bars so my reps with them feel alot better vs. my previous door frame bar.

I did alot of research for power towers before making this purchase. So for the price + free shipping, this tower gets the job done for me!

This pull up bar sounds like a much more sturdy stand than it truly is. I got it to do P90X program. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 200 lbs. The weight limit is 250, but the whole structure bends slightly when I do pull ups. The height is actually lower than the door jam pull up bar (or the same -- very close and frustrating). I have previously owned a Weider pull up bar in multi-station home gym, and it was much superior. The Weider construction never "bent" or ever felt unstable. I constantly feel like this is going to collapse thanks to the weaker hollow tube construction (tubes more thin unlike the heavy metal of a Weider). All in all, you can spend just a few dollars more and get a Weider. The only advantage this unit has is simple construction and portability. I've had difficulty moving the Weider equipment, and actually sold the last one at a substantial loss when I moved. I just wanted a simple pull up unit, and expected this to be more sturdy. It was a total waste of about $100, when I could have gotten THIS level of pull up bar in a much cheaper door jam unit. I do not recommend this for adults doing pull-ups. For children -- yes. The push up feature is also stupid. $20 push up hand grips do the job. Again, useless features and just a cheap alternative to Weider. I suppose one gets what one pays for and I was stupid in making this purchase. That's the bottom line -- it's made me feel stupid for purchasing it cause the unit is so lame.

I was reluctant to buy based on a few reviews from others about stableness. I'm 6'1, 185 and needed something that could handle a lot of pull-ups. After purchasing and setting it up I couldn't be happier. The tools they give you to tighten everything down aren't the best, I suggest getting a wrench and a ratchet...would work MUCH better. If you are sure to tighten everything down really good, then you won't have any problems. I suspect that those who were complaining about wobbliness didn't tighten everything down good enough. The nylon lined nuts make you think it's tight but continue until you can't turn the nuts anymore. Again, much easier with a ratchet. I'm pleased..couldn't have gotten better for the money.

Dips and pullups are what I wanted to be able to do and this is a great piece of equipment to do just that. It's sturdy, easy to assemble, and doesn't take up too much room. I am 6'3" and 220 lbs and it works for me no problem.

I specifically wanted a PT to do only dips and pull ups that was not overly priced, yet structurally solid. I feel like I won on all counts with this one.

As a point of reference, I am 6'1" and weigh 180#.

1) Price is very good. Its hard to get more competetive than $99 with free shipping.

2) Assembly seemed intimidating at first given the somewhat poorly drawn pictures/instructions, but after I separated all of the parts, it took me two Southpark episodes to complete it without any assistance using only a socket wrench and an adjustable wrench. It comes with 2 wrench like devices if you don't have any.

3) I put it together on a carpet so there is some unevenness to the foundation similar to an uneven table at a restaurant.

4) Despite #3, there is absolutely no sway with pullups and minimal sway with dips. The sway with dips has absolutely no negative impact on my performance. I use it on a carpet without a mat.

5) Counterintuitive to the lower price, the over unit feels very solid and is made of what appears to be strong steel.

6) The only negative I can think of is that the grips on the pullups feel as if they have a smaller diameter than the dip grips (as another reviewer pointed out). Dips feel comfortable, but pullups feel odd - almost as if they hurt my hands - but not quite.

7) The "cheating bar" to stand on ensures that I will continue to progress beyond my meager ability to currently perform 5 pullups without assistance.

I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend it. - Power Tower - Chin Up - Chin Up Bar - Dip Station'

This review is from: Tao 83003 Modern Digital Photo Clock (Black)Having purchased the TAO digital picture key chain, I was very excited to see a digital clock with pictures. The resolution of the pictures is very clear and it's a fun way to be able to show my friends what my last vacation or trip was like. The clock part is also very functional. I would recommend this product to anyone. Also, it makes a great holiday gift....

This review is from: Tao 83003 Modern Digital Photo Clock (Black)Anyone else notice that it only displays military time? The picture clearly shows PM next to the 12:34 but there's no such option on the clock settings menu. As I write this it's 1800 hours. For all this thing can do it seems that such a simple function would be available. I only paid [...] bucks for this and I still feel ripped off....

This review is from: Tao 83003 Modern Digital Photo Clock (Black)There is no battery backup so if you want to take it on the road, as I did, you must reset the year, date, AND TIME etc every time you unplug it....
