It works without drivers under XP, Vista and Windows 7. Ubuntu recognized it without any questions asked. The only drawback I see is the cable is pretty short. It is OK for a laptop but reaching from a desktop display to PC would be a problem. Sound quality is much better than that of a cheap ($10) standalone mike. Picture gets fuzzy in Skype sometimes but I am not sure whether it is due to auto focus or changing resolutionEdit 07/27/11: I bought a dozen of these as gifts for some of my friends and relatives. You know, sometimes you buy a gadget and only later realize how lucky you were to get it. Alas, it is not so widely available anymore. This camera is one of those.

I use Vista and didn't need to install any software...just plugged it into the usb port and it was working within seconds. The picture looks great and it has auto-focus which works well. The clip does not adjust to different sized screens...I couldn't attach it to my flat-screen LCD monitor, but it fit perfectly on my laptop screen. The microphone works ok, but it doesn't sound very clear on Skype. I'm still using my headset mic to get a clear connection, but at least the camera works great.
