Attractively housed in stainless steel, this 1500-watt kettle not only looks great in any contemporary kitchen, but it also boils up to 1-2/3 liters of water in a matter of minutes--great for making instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea, instant soup, oatmeal, baby formula, and more. The unit's concealed heating element delivers fast results, while its built-in, removable scale filter traps mineral deposits for better-tasting beverages. In addition, the kettle swivels 360 degrees in either direction on its non-slip power base, making it a comfortable choice for both right- or left-handed users, plus it lifts off the power base for graceful pouring without the hassle of a cord. Other thoughtful details include a hinged lid that stays open for convenient filling at the sink, a translucent water-level window with easy-to-read markings, an "on" indicator light, a drip-free spout, and an open-style stay-cool handle. For safety, the unit shuts off automatically once water reaches a full boil, and its boil-dry protection system means no need to worry about the water boiling away--the kettle also turns off when water levels become low. The sleek, modern-looking electric kettle measures 9 by 6-4/5 by 10-4/5 inches.

This review is from: Black & Decker JKC650 Smart Boil Stainless-Steel 1-2/3-Liter Cordless Electric KettleBlack and Decker warranties do not hold up. The item started leaking two months after purchase. In order to get them to honor the warrantee you have to cut off the cord from the product, send back the plug together with a check for $7.50 to cover shipping. You get to pay to get them to replace their garbage product....

This review is from: Black & Decker JKC650 Smart Boil Stainless-Steel 1-2/3-Liter Cordless Electric KettleActually 13 months. I picked up my kettle this morning and realized that there was corrosion where the plastic base meets the metal body on the outside. When I look inside I see discoloration to a greater or lesser extent all the way round the base - clearly this kettle is corroding from the inside out on a previously invisible seam. I had the previous version of this kettle and it lasted me several years before the base gave up the ghost but it never corroded in this way. So good points: it does boil water fast.Bad point (and the reason I won't be buying another one) - surely a kettle that is so poorly manufactured that water can seep through a seam and eventually leak is potentially a hazard? And there is no way to tell if "your" version of this kettle will be any better - you cannot see this seam inside until corrosion sets in....

This review is from: Black & Decker JKC650 Smart Boil Stainless-Steel 1-2/3-Liter Cordless Electric KettleI had this kettle for almost 2 years. Pros: No complaints about it's functionality as it boiled water efficiently fast. Cons: I also, like the previous reviewer, disliked the fact that the top did not open all the way, so I had to be extra precise and slow to get a spatter proof fill up and I could never see the bottom of the kettle. The lever to turn the kettle on finally dislodged, not surprising as it's made from cheap plastic I expect that it was only a matter of time before it gave way to the constant pressure. This time around I'm looking for a more durable kettle so I would not purchase again....
