This review is from: D-Link DWL-923 Wireless Network Kit, 802.11g, 54Mbps, Includes DI-524 & DWL-G630I bought this product after a lot of looking around on Internet for comparable products. What I like about this combination is the speed (54Mbps is actually what I get on the combo), ease of setup (the wizard is simple to use, never had to call DLink for technical assistance) and the fact that I was able to set it up and use it within an hour of opening the box. What i do not like about the combo is the fact that it is not really compatible with non-dlink cards .. my other laptop never reaches the 54 Mbps mark in the same distance band as the laptop with the Dlink card, and the reception flaps causing connection to be dropped once a day or so. Having said that, i can also say that I faced the same issues with my older (and slower) Netgear router ... and that comparably this is easier to setup. I have never had to reset the DLInk router ever ... (and have certainly done that on the older Netgear every once in a while)... and I would recommend this product to everyone looking to purchase a wireless router out there....

This review is from: D-Link DWL-923 Wireless Network Kit, 802.11g, 54Mbps, Includes DI-524 & DWL-G630I am not a networking pro, but just wanted to use Wireless as I got my office laptop in addition to my personal laptop at home, as I needed an IP splitter anyway. This device, being a combo and at a decent price immeidately caught my attention and I bought it inspite of my friedns' warnings against D-link.The setup of the base unit was easy but as soon as I installed the card, I figured that something went wrong. After a 2 hours discussion with cust-support, I was told that I would have to use Static IP addresses on both PCs to connect to internet, as the DNS server of the Base unit had some issues. That is fine as long as my both pcs are used at home, but I have to change my network setting everytime (to autodetect an IP address) whenever I have to take my PC out or if someone bring another device to my home. I happened to change my service provider and discovered that the TCP/IP setting of my main PC had corrupted and needed reinstallation.Other than that, its been working fine since last 2-3 months. Not a single dropped connection. It works at a consistent high speed. I would say its a good value for money if, unlike me, you know how to use it....

This review is from: D-Link DWL-923 Wireless Network Kit, 802.11g, 54Mbps, Includes DI-524 & DWL-G630Was a decent buy with $60 in mail in rebates from bestbuy's bf sales but I noticed that the router would keep dropping and restoring the connections, and this was a direct wired connection on my desktop. Tried to reset it with the paperclip and start over, no change. After poking around the web, I found that if I restored the device, then reverted to the 1.03 firmware, then updated to the newest 1.05 firmware, that has fixed it for now.As for setup on the laptop, make sure you uncheck let Windows manage the wireless connection and uses the Airlink software. Atleast in my area anyway. With NetStumbler I found 6 other various hotpoints and Windows would always pick another connection besides mine, although that could be good for Wardriving....
