The unit features a concealed stainless-steel heating element that quickly brings up to 57 ounces of water to a rolling boil. Simply fill the kettle at the sink, return the kettle to its 360-degree power base, and flip the switch to "on". Once the water begins to boil, the appliance will shut-off automatically to prevent the kettle from boiling dry. Use the hot water for anything from tea, instant coffee, and hot cocoa to instant noodles, soup, baby formula, and more. This review is from: Kalorik JK31099 Stainless-Steel Cordless 57-Ounce Dome-Shaped Jug KettleI think I've found a use for this thing every single day since it arrived. When I opened it, I followed the manufacturer's directions and boiled 3 full pots of water before use. At the end of the 3rd pot I looked inside and saw a bit of film in the pot, which I expected. I had no problems cleaning: I used my bottle brush to get inside and into the corners since the handle doesn't swing out of the way. (I don't have babies in the house, but the bottle brush is great for water bottles, vases, and all sorts of other grownup items.)A few of my uses I've timed its performance. I can hear that water is boiling in a full pot after only 90 seconds. Color me impressed! When I'm using it for tea, I don't let it heat much past when I hear the water start to boil otherwise it'll be far too hot to drink. A few days later I timed how long it took for the automatic shut-off to flip, which was just under 7 minutes. When left on the dock, the kettle seems to keep warm for quite a while. Either that's a feature, or the kettle is just amazing at retaining its heat. I don't recall offhand if I read that in the manual.I haven't seen any film or sediment since the first "cleaning" boils. I have been using distilled water since my home drinking water is distilled. I'm sure it helps reduce the frequency of required cleanings, and it definitely ensures my water doesn't "taste" like anything. Good water in -- Good water out.The image on Amazon makes it look like there's vertical stripes on the metal housing, which there are not. It's a sleek dome shape.A "full" pot is 1.7 liters, 57 ounces, just over 7 cups, just under gallon, although the fill indicator only reads in liters. So far I've used my electric kettle for the expected tea and hot chocolate. I've also used it for dry soup mix and to speed up pasta cooking since my cooktop takes ages to heat water to a boil. I've been recommending this product to everyone. I'm not sure how I got along without it before!...

This review is from: Kalorik JK31099 Stainless-Steel Cordless 57-Ounce Dome-Shaped Jug KettleIt seemed like the perfect kettle. We wanted to avoid plastic, and thought this was it. So hard to find plastic-free appliances, especially those that come into contact with HOT liquid. Talk about a way to get chemicals to leach into your food/drinks!)It was easy to remove the internal filter that had plastic on it from the inside of the spout. They warn not to, but it really makes no difference if you are watching it boil. The manufacturer says that because the mesh screen of this filter causes some degree of pressure (however small) for the steam when the water boils which helps their autoshutoff to work. But I never leave it alone anyway. The real problem was that the water ALSO goes up into the PLASTIC HANDLE, which has a readout for water levels. Cute idea, but hey -- hot water into plastic. I may as well have just gotten a plastic kettle.Rats. It is such a perfect kettle otherwise! Nice appearance, quiet, fast boil, good size. We would have loved to have kept it.What is it about NO PLASTIC that these guys just don't get!????!!!Sending this one back....
