From the Manufacturer
Smith’s 8” Diamond Tri-Hone Sharpening System comes with two interrupted surface diamond stones and a Medium Arkansas stone. The Coarse and Fine grit diamond stones feature a unique, overlapping hole design that speeds sharpening by collecting and holding the metal filings which build up during the sharpening process, thus allowing the stone’s surface to remain clean and clear. The Natural Arkansas Stone is best used for finishing your edge. It removes moderate amounts of metal as it polishes the cutting edge. This 3-stone sharpening system is excellent for sharpening pocket knives, hunting & fishing knives, kitchen knives, and tools of all sizes, large or small.

This review is from: Smith Abrasives 8\" Diamond Tri-Hone 1I am an amateur cook that hates to work around the kitchen with dull knives so after much thought and looking around for the right sharpening tool, I decided to buy Smith's Abrasive 8" Diamond Tri Hone. It's not cheap, but it is certainly well made and well thought out. The base is heavy enough and sturdy enough that it doesn't move on a tile surface while I sharpen my kitchen knives. I haven't yet tried all the sharpening surfaces, but I couple of swipes with the Arkansas stone left my Cuisineart Chef's knife dangerously sharp. This is well made piece of equipment for those who demand to have the best tools around to do the best job possible. I feel that it's well worth the money. I would recommend it with no hesitation....
