This review is from: Equity by La Crosse 40010 Insta-Set Alarm ClockFirst, this is not an atomic clock. Equity did a clever trick. They preset the time and date at the factory. They then put in a lithium button battery to keep the clock ticking. The button battery lasts around 3 yrs. So when you plug the clock in, naturally the time would pop up automatically and the ac current would take over the clock chores. Unplug the clock and the button battery takes over keeping time; but no display since that would drain the battery quckly. When the button battery goes, so will the instant start feature, until you replace the button battery and manually reset the time. The clock does have an auto dim features that work fine. The blue display is dim for normally lit rooms, but ok for bedrooms. Blue should not be the color of choice since blue is the worse color for human perception of sharpness.Generous 2 year warranty. Bottom of clock has a build date sticker that is a guage on how much life is left on the battery.Manually setting the time is straight forward. Instructions are adequate. One of the clocks I purchased would not light up at all. The instructions does detail the reset procedure and boom the clock lit up, but you have to manually input the correct time.Got it at close out so price was great. Would not pay retail for it....
This review is from: Equity by La Crosse 40010 Insta-Set Alarm ClockFirst of all I received this clock and the "auto set" feature didn't work out of the box...nice. Then the LED's are so dim that you can hardly see it at night. If you have it on your nightstand and you're a couple feet away, it may be ok. If you plan on using it let's say, in your living room, well maybe you'd better look at something else. I'm going to return it. Enough said....
This review is from: Equity by La Crosse 40010 Insta-Set Alarm ClockI love never having to reset this clock after I unplug it or the power goes out! I did have the same problem with the time being a few hours off, but after playing around with it for a while I found out that you CAN manually change the time, date and year. Just press and holding the "ALARM" button until the year shows up and starts flashing and then using the "+"/"-" buttons to adjust the year. Press the "ALARM" button again to switch to the next modes (month, day, hour, and then minute minute) adjusting each as needed with the "+"/"-" buttons. After the minutes show up and are correct, press the "ALARM" button once more to return to the clock and save all your adjustments!...
