This review is from: Garmin nvi 775 NOH 4.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)I had a Magellan navigator which I got as a gift and at that time costed 400 bucks had only US maps and ran Windows PocketPC, always got lost and took forever to track down the satellites, given that it was 3yrs old, but this model is also atleast 2yrs old. What a huge difference in user experience. This has a great user interface, lots of features (multiple waypoint support, bluetooth, picture viewer, mp3 player, fm traffic reciever) along with the most important feature for me as I was traveling to Europe, North America as well as European Maps pre-loaded. I would not have been able to survive the roads in Italy, especially Naples if not for this nifty little thing. In Europe along with traffic it also gives you location of the speed and traffic cameras (not all the cameras are indicated though), which is a great plus. I was personally following the posted speed limits (not that one could go faster than the limits in the dinky little cars you get for rentals over there). The freeway limits are much higher than in US, upto 80mph/130kmph (this thing switches easily to kmph scale), so really don't have to go above them. This was a refurbished unit, and had some concerns before buying it. The navigator arrived in an OEM packaging and though it did not look new (unlike some other refurbished items I have purchased) but it worked flawlessly right out of the box. I guess there are some advantages of buying a refurb, the kinks have probably been removed.Following are the issues why I dinged 1 star:1. It appeared to be a used unit and not a usual refurbished one, which are typically less than 30 day return.2. There was only a car charger, no AC wall charger. The car charger has the FM receiver so you have to deal with a lot of wires.3. Complicated charger plug design, it does not fit directly into the unit but you have to attach the mount to the back of the GPS and plug the plug to that.4. No case, I would have expected at least a rudimentary carrying case for a device that cost so much refurbished5. No lifetime maps which are available with newer but much less expensive units from Garmin...
This review is from: Garmin nvi 775 NOH 4.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)It's a very good product; has a bunch of features (I'm not sure why they don't make the new models with so many); You are not get boring with it - I'm still amazed with so many things it can do. (I would not enlist them here; I would only say that every thing they said is true). The cons: Do not expect to find address for every tiny city from Europe; for this thing I think it's a good ideea to purchase one from an european country. Another con: the battery life is very short (I would say two hours). But it's bulit for auto traveling mostly so, I don't think this it would be a big problem. (Plugged in cigarette plug is working very good). Not for the last: The delivery was very accurate and the customer service very professional and kindly. Thank them!...
This review is from: Garmin nvi 775 NOH 4.5-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)Used for 15 days all over Scotland and Ireland. The Maps were missing some of the highways in Ireland that were not that new.The touch screen is not as sensitive as my old Garman Nuvi. I love the speed limits they convert from km/h to mi/h and theyseemed to be very accurate. lots of speed cameras, don't know if they were accurate. The traffic function did not workin Ireland or Scotland. I like the new lane assist function, and the 3D buildings in the larger cities was kinda fun. This unit does find Satalites a little faster then my old Nuvi. However the touch screen did not work as well as my oldNuvi. All things considered it was worth every penny of the $198 I payed for it....
