It seems like I get some sort of map I can download to my device. But the instructions and box say I get a lifetime of free updates. When I load the software and connect my device, it says this offer has expired. BUT, it doesn't ask me for money for updates either. Other than that, it seems like an ok device.

Being a "refurb" I was a bit concerned about battery life. To my surprise I get at least 3 hours of battery life out of it. So far, I'm most satisfied and you can't beat the price, and, it's a TomTom which I consider to be the best of the GPS devices.
