The electronic tuner is not good at discriminating signals and the strong stations bleed over into adjacent frequencies. The NOAA weather bands are very clear. I did not try the voicelink communications functions. The LED light is bright and the backlit LCD display is very nice. I returned it because I just can't deal with a radio with bad reception. My Sony ICF-2010 is the gold standard for portables and now I'm still looking for a good emergency radio....

Be aware that chargers for cell phones need to be ordered directly from the manufacturer's web site and they take a LONG time to send it (over a month), however there is no charge for one free charger cable. With hindsight I might have bought the version with a solar panel. Still haven't set up the short wave radio, as you need to apply for a license .. right. Recommended, but check out their other models too and think about what is most important to you feature wise....

I can't sort out the cell phone charging capabilities yet, but I'm sure that will come soon. And the fact that they're making a donation to parks makes me want to buy another for a friend! Thanks....
