Unfortunately, it was worse than average. Very tinny, I've heard better in the sixties. The price seems to be based on the voice recognition feature, a nice touch if you use the program wake up sounds. It can't be used with the radio setting. The time display is huge and makes a great night light even when set on the dim setting. On the higher setting, you can read by it. Manual controls are easy to use once you get the hang of them....
This review is from: Jensen Interactive AM/FM Talking Dual Alarm Clock - JCR-290 (Black)Picked up one of these today from Sears for the same price. I'm taking it back tomorrow for two main reasons. First, I found the display very hard to read. It wasn't bad from across the room, but from closer, like when lying in bed, I had a hard time with it because the LED segments that are supposed to be off were much too bright. You could clearly see all the supposedly non-lit segments as well as the other display items. I guess there was too little contrast between the segments being on and off. The second reason concerns the nature sounds. I thought that would be a good thing to try, but these samples don't loop very well. Each one plays for a few seconds and then there's an obvious pause or gap before the loop starts again. Not very realistic and not something I'd want to listen to. I thought the voice commands for settings would be a neat feature to have, but these other things just kill it for me. I'm going to go with a standard clock radio....
