I was surprised that this is battery-operated, which means the LED light is very dim so it will not waste the battery. You have to press down on the clock for the light to become brighter so you can read it in the dark. Also, the snooze button is on the bottom of the clock, so you have to press down on it to snooze the alarm. It is cute cut I'm not sure I would have bought it if I had realized it was battery-operated....

The beautiful blue backlight in the picture turns on only when you push down on the top of the clock. This is a problem if you want to see the time during the night. You have to find the clock in the dark and push the top to see the time. If the clock is out of arms reach from the bed,then you have to get up to see the time. This makes it worthless as an alarm clock, in my opinion. It is more of a toy. I think it's worth about half what it cost.The one I bought was factory sealed, but the backlight did not work, so I sent it back....

This works for that and I guess for the price you get a very basic clock with a princess on the top. It does have a button that she can push so the time is illuminated so that helps....
