The bands are 850/1900 and that means it works in US/Canada and most of the Americas. For the price, it is a very dependable phone without many features (no wifi, bluetooth, etc.) Yes, it does come with a charger.If you want a GSM phone to work around the world, you need a QUAD-BAND phone. We bought it as a prepaid AT&T phone and it worked great until she upgraded to a phone with more features--there aren't many on this phone. But you can't expect too many features at this price.Noting the 2 previous reviews, I think both of them are from Europe. One said she is from the Netherlands. The other mentioned O2 service, which is only in Europe and limited areas of the US. Europe operates on different cell frequencies than the US, so of course they will not receive a signal there....

I only needed it to receive calls, so it does very well. The battery live is very long. This was a good purchase....
