This review is from: Buffalo Technology AirStation High Power N450 Gigabit Wireless Router - Black (WZR-HP-G450H)Previously I owned the WHR-G300N and the WZR-HP-G300NH, and by far this is the best yet, and not just because of the obvious range/speed benefit because of the antennas, which by the way, are HUGE in person, but because of one particular piece of info I've noticed on my wireless status page. In the Wireless Packet Info, on the previous two routers, transmit errors would slowly accumulate over a few days until it was well into the hundreds, but on this router, it's been running for about 5 days straight since I've received it, and still reads "No errors" for both transmit and receive. This is a different firmware build of DD-WRT on this model than on the other two, guess they fixed it....
This review is from: Buffalo Technology AirStation High Power N450 Gigabit Wireless Router - Black (WZR-HP-G450H)The thing works awesome.Allowed me to stream netflix from two rooms over through three walls and one being a solid foundation wall, and it streamed flawlessly in full HD.My internet connection sits right at about 10mb/s-12mb/s when directly connected through ethernet. With this wireless router, I could hold consistent speeds of 6mb/s everywhere I went throughout my house.I would recommend and I would buy again, great product!...
This review is from: Buffalo Technology AirStation High Power N450 Gigabit Wireless Router - Black (WZR-HP-G450H)Lightning hit my house in early June and (amongst other things) knocked out a port on the back of my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 router. Since then, I have been trying to replace it with a new router than has the same wireless strength and range. Since the WHR-HP-G54 is not made anymore, I had to try a newer router. My WHR-HP-G54 sat in the middle of a ~2000 sq. ft finished basement and provided full wireless strength to the entire basement and the entire ~2000 sq. ft main floor. I rarely had a bar missing on any wireless indicator. I have RoadRunner internet provided by Brighthouse (20 mb down / 2 mb up)and was always able to get 19 down / 1.9 up anywhere in the house. The WHR-HP-G54 also provided a solid internet connection to four wired devices in the basement. Needless to say, I loved this router and it never game me a problem in the many years I have had it. I figured since it was a G only router and N wireless had been out for quite some time, a newer router would provide me with at least the same performance or better. I first tried the Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H since it was dual-band and I could separate my laptop and iMac from all the other wireless devices (5 GHz for laptop and iMac and 2.4 GHz for everything else). I was able to set up the two signals without much issue, but the wireless strength was sub-par. I was never able to get much more than a couple of bars on the main floor in the corner bedrooms. I tried re-positioning the antennae and tweaking the settings, but with the same results. Keep in mind, my WHR-HP-G54 was full strength, all the time, everywhere, stock settings. I then tried the Linksys 2500 and had the same problem, weak wireless signals on the main floor. I began to think that the performance of my WHR-HP-G54 has something to do with its MIMO capability and built-in amplifier. With that in mind, I bought the WZR-HP-G450H because it touted a 3x3 MIMO antenna configuration with 5 dBi antennae. Finally, I had the wireless strength I was used to along with the DD-WRT I had been using with the WHR-HP-G54. This router is exactly what I was looking for: strong wireless signal, easy to set up (I am using the pre-loaded firmware), and 4 wired ports. I have only had the router a few days, but I have had no issues since setting it up. I will come back and update this review if something happens, but I am not anticipating any problems since my experience with Buffalo routers has been stellar. If you are looking for long-range wireless, I highly recommend you try this router....
