However, the self-detecting lighting is deplorable. The better the light source, the worse the quality of your video will be. The same is true for the worse the light source is. The best lighting is actually dim lighting such as sitting in one's bedroom with the curtains drawn.There is a button atop the web camera, and I'm not sure what it does because it just doesn't work.If you're in need of a temporary solution to your web camera problems, then I highly suggest this being one of your last options. However, if you're strapped for cash, then make this purchase only after extensively looking elsewhere.

All you need to do is plug it into your computer's USB port and you are ready to go. The lens can be turned in either direction for focus. The focal range of this camera is amazing - I am using it as security cam in my back yard and it clearly captures imagery anywhere from 6 inches to well over 100 yards in excellent definition. For snow conditions, I place old sunglasses in front of the lens as filter. Without that, everything is just white. As webcam on skype it performs equally well. Of course nothing's ever completely perfect and the only negative thing about this particular model is the base clamp. This clamp cannot place the camera properly on a laptop screen. It's either too far back or too far down - there is no in between. To fix this I clamp it to a book shelf beside my chair and people get to see me somewhat from the side.The price is very low, yet lower priced cams can be found as usual on eBay. Overall, I rate this product as excellent and recommend it further.
