Without a backlight on, you can't read the clock face in a dark room. With the dim backlight on, it was too bright to sleep next to. If you're only using it for the projector, the projected image worked fine at night, but if you're planning on looking at the clock at night to tell time, there's no way to further "dim" the dim setting. It was way too bright for me....

My only wish is that the lighting was in the color of "blue." The red is still nice though. The radio is loud enough. You can set two different alarms which is nice! Great purchase!...
