This review is from: RCA RC50 Voice Activated Alarm ClockI have had this for about a week now. It is pretty easy to operate, and the voice recognition is pretty good.Pros: The alarm is nice and loud ... the graduramp feature has always struck me as silly, because it ramps up over thirty seconds, which doesn't seem like enough time to gently rouse a personThere are two alarms, and the wake-up sound can be different or the same for each.Saying "wake up, sleepyhead" is fun.The voice recognition is pretty good. You can do everything except snooze with your voice. Cons:You can't say "snooze", and must push a button for this feature. Sometimes, it just doesn't seem to understand me, which can be frustrating. Mine seems to buzz a little like the sound is being distorted (radio and speaking voice)The radio is analog, so you can only set one station at a time. This means if you use the sleep feature, you must wake up to the same station. If you set alarm one for radio, alarm two can also be set to wake to the radio, but has to use the same station. I like to fall asleep to music, and wake up with news, and can't do that with this clock. Despite the negatives, I like it, and am not sorry I purchased it. Compared to the Italk clock, I like this one better because it has two alarms which are persistent (If you turn them off today, they will remember to go off tomorrow). With this one you can't set memos, however, and you can with the italk. The Sunshine clock has a night light, three alarms, can take three memos, and will snooze if you tell it to, but you can't set the time or the radio by voice and must do so manually. With the Sunshine clock, each alarm has it's own sound and this is not selectable, though you can record an individual voice alarm....
This review is from: RCA RC50 Voice Activated Alarm ClockWe bought the RCA RC50 hoping that the "gradual awake" function would be compatible with radically different wake-up times - that she could get up without him being woken up. Pros: The clock is easy to use and the dual-display makes knowing the alarm time and status a snap.Cons: Even on the dimmest setting, it lights up the whole room. The "Graduwake" ramp-up starts out at Van Halen concert levels, and moves from there to Exploding Warhead volume levels... it's too loud to start with, louder than the maximum should be. It would wake people all the way across the house.Summary: Great features, but too bright and too loud....
This review is from: RCA RC50 Voice Activated Alarm ClockI like everything about this clock. The only thing that I could see as an improvement (and this is really being picky) is that it would be nice to be able to turn an already set alarm off or on without having the voice announcements. Sometimes I want to turn my alarm on or off and my wife is sleeping. You can initiate the change without talking (just press a button), but it will tell you that you turned the alarm off or on, even if you are not using voice recognition.I still gave it 5 stars because I think it is a wonderful product as is and really made our lives easier....
