This review is from: Sony Cybershot DSC-N2 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomI JUST received this camera yesterday, and have had very little time to play with it.However, since there were no reviews here, I decided to share my first impressions to help others. I choose this camera because of its small size, 10 megapixels, and large viewing screen. The battery came partially charged. I also had ordered a 4-gig card to go in the camera, so I was ready to go.The camera turns on almost instantly. It turns off just as quickly.I was able to figure out most of the basic features of the camera right away. It is all pretty intuitive, and the large, sharp touch screen works well.I took pictures indoors and out. I tried the flash and the optical zoom and they worked fine. I was easily able to take movies with it. They are in the mpeg format that the PC windows media player handles. It seems that in high quality 640 my 4-gig card can hold one hour of movie, and in the lower 640 quality it can hold three hours. I base that on the countdown indicator that shows up on the screen when in movie mode. There is an attachment that hooks the camera up to a TV and the pictures and movies play FROM THE CAMERA in great definition on the TV. The movie sound when played on the camera is a little tinny because of the small speaker, but when played from the camera on the TV, the sound on the TV speaker was loud and clear!I hooked the camera up to my computer without using the additional software, and was able to copy pictures and videos from the camera to the PC and back to the camera. The resolution was perfect and everything worked well. The quality of the photos in ten megapixels is super, as is the quality of high quality movies.. the lower quality movie isn't that bad, but it is noticeable. That is all I have done so far. I am VERY pleased with the camera, and my fiancée thinks my choice was brilliant. I will come back with more as I play with it.((I have had the camera for one year now. It is really a great camera. The pictures are perfect almost everytime. The touch screen controls are easy to understand and use, and I carry the camera with me everywhere I go. I have a 30 inch apple monitor and the pictures look PERFECT in high resolution as my wallpaper. I even took a picture of an accident with it that the local paper used for the article! So far, I am very pleased.))(((I just purchased some more toys for the house and thought I would share how they are working with the camera. We now have a PS3 and a 73'' DLP television. I can stream the camera photos from my office PC through wifi to the PS3 hooked up to the DLP. The movies taken with the camera are ok that big, but the 10 megapixal photos are FANTASTIC at 73'' and you can even zoom in more! WOW)))
This review is from: Sony Cybershot DSC-N2 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomI purchased this camera to replace an older Sony DSC-S75 digital camera. That camera had performed well for many years, and indeed still works the same as when it was new. We wanted something a little smaller and with higher resolution. Turn on time was also a problem- often by the time I had the camera powered up and ready to shoot the moment had passed!I looked around a LOT and was ready to purchase a Canon, but then a visitor from China showed me his Sony DSC-T50 (which had just been released in the US at the time) and I was convinced it was the way to go. While I was reading up on the T50 I found a lot of references to the N2. From what I could tell, the N2 had the same great touchscreen plus a few more advanced features and a higher resolution. The lower price was icing on the cake. This is a "family" camera- nearly all our pictures are of our kids. The great thing about this camera is the large screen and the ability to easily and clearly show off your pictures to the rest of the family without having to gather around a computer.I think the touch screen is great. I like not having a camera full of more buttons than I'll ever figure out how to use. For someone that wants full manual control over all the shots I suspect an SLR type camera is the way to go. For someone who will be taking 95% of their shots in the default "auto" mode, I think this is the way to go.I've taken some shots at night with mixed results. I took some pictures of a house during Halloween which was decorated with orange string lights. Holding the camera by hand produced one clear image out of three. I've found the best thin...
