This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix Z90 14 MP Digital Camera with Fujinon 5x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch Touch-Screen LCD (Pink)Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)

Fujifilm's FinePix Z90 is, obviously, a digital camera. I won't replay the statistics for you, since they are listed in the product description. Here are the highpoints of my experience with this camera:1. The FinePix uses a rechargeable battery which is included. The drawback here is that you must charge the battery before the first use of the camera. If it used normal batteries, you could pop them in and move on. However, rechargeable keeps the waste down, and ordering your camera to arrive a day or two before you need it will give you plenty of time. Initial charge actually took a little under 2 hours. The charger is included. You can purchase an additional battery if you like.2. Battery life: I have taken this camera along on a couple of short family day-trips and taken somewhere between 20-30 pictures each trip. Between that and taking pictures just to take pictures, I've taken well over a hundred pictures. So far, the battery has held up just fine and not needed recharged. This includes after sitting around and not being used at all for a couple of days. Let's face it: with a camera, you want it to work when you pick it up. This one does pretty well.3. Picture quality: I am not much of a photographer, but I can tell lousy, blurry pictures when I see them. So far, I'm not seeing any with my FinePix. The image stabilization seems to work well, the flash fills nicely, and the "Auto" setting has kept the quality consistent indoors and out. 4. Controlling the camera with a touchscreen: this has been difficult to adjust to doing, but I'm getting used to it. I don't know of a touchscreen control that I've ever been truly happy with, however this one is good enough. 5. Included software: I used the included software a little bit, but not a lot. I wasn't impressed and found the free software I've been using to be just fine. This is partly because I prefer to eject the card from the camera and use the card reader on the computer. I didn't bother learning the new software and just continue to use what I've been using. The other reason I chose to not bother with the included software is what I would deem my one major complaint with this camera: the USB docking cord. It's not a mini-USB or a micro-USB. It's shaped just a little different. This means using the included software for import requires keeping one more cord on my desktop or handy. Too much trouble---I'm already too good at collecting clutter. I'm not sure there was a technical reason not to make the cord match existing cords, but it doesn't.6. Time to shoot: this is my favorite thing about this camera. I pick it up, snap the cover down, and take a picture. My wife has an Olympus that takes slightly better pictures, has a better zoom, and a better video feature. But if our son is up to something cute and silly, I can get two pictures taken before she can take one, and that can be all the difference.7. One fun feature: I thought this was fun, but you might find it stupid. The camera can be set to take two quick pictures with one push. One with flash, one without. So, in those situations where you don't know if you need the flash, you don't have to repose or re-snap. It's done. This is a definite step-up from my daughter's entry-level camera, but obviously you can't expect it to be as amazing as cameras that run into the hundreds and thousands. For me, a dad trying to capture memories here and there, it's a good fit....

This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix Z90 14 MP Digital Camera with Fujinon 5x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch Touch-Screen LCD (Pink)I just purchased this camera about 2 weeks ago. The last camera I had was a Kodak and I had that one for over 2 years until this past March I dropped it and the exterior zoom lens got stuck and no longer works which is why I had to buy a new one. There are several specs that got my attention with this camera such as: interior zoom lens (broke 2 camera from zoom lens), touch screen,...

Docsis 3 - comcast, docsis 3

I've had this modem for about a month now. It works flawlessly. In fact it increased my speed from roughly 20mb/s to 40mb/s over cox. Its a nice compact unit, and has a couple keyholes for wall/shelf mounting. Motorola SURFboard® SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

I simply replaced my RR modem with this one and powered it up. The speeds were crippled and when I tried to bring up a web page, I was presented with a message "Your MAC address is unknown, please call TWC/RoadRunner and give the Agent the new MAC address". I called the number given and after 10 minutes got ahold of a technician who took the new MAC address and assigned it to my account. Within a few moments the modem disconnected. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and when it came up, I was at full speed again. My d/l speed went from 8MB to 11MB and my ping dropped from 39ms to 21 ms.

Motorola SURFboard® SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem I bought this cable modem figuring it would be my last modem for a while and that it would pay out versus renting from ComCast. At the time I bought it, it WAS on Comcast's list of approved modems. Bad decision. For whatever reason, the modem just plain didn't work properly, never achieving anything close to the 60/10 service I was paying for with Comcast. After numerous phone sessions and three on-site tech visits, one very smart and methodical tech finally figured out the modem was defective, and replaced it with Comcast's own. I'm blazing away now at 62/12, and happy as a clam. My advice: don't buy your own modem (especially this one), just cough up the monthly rental fee and let your cable provider provide the modem that they KNOW works with their system. In my case, it was not even close to being worth all the grief I went through simply to save the few bucks I might have saved! One last note: the Comcast tech that finally figured out the problem said that one of the reasons he suspected that the Motorola was the problem was that the scuttlebutt among Comcast techs is that a LOT of these modems are defective and are basically pieces of junk!

IT GETS WORSE: I called Motorola's tech support to arrange a refund, and talked with a very arrogant tech, then his very arrogant supervisor. Bottom line.... you ain't gonna get a refund from Motorola if it doesn't work. Here's their "warranty:"

"Because it is impossible for Motorola to know the purposes for which you acquired this Product or the uses to which you will put this Product, you assume full responsibility for the selection of the Product [even though it's on Comcast's approved modem list], and for its installation and use. While every reasonable effort has been made to insure that you will receive a Product that you can use and enjoy, Motorola does not warrant that the functions of the Product will meet your requirements or that the operation of the Product will be uninterrupted or error-free. MOTOROLA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROBLEMS OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE INTERACTION OF THE PRODUCT WITH ANY OTHER SOFTWARE OF HARDWARE, ALL WARRANTIES ARE VOID IF THE PRODUCT IS OPENED, ALTERED, AND/OR DAMAGED. THESE ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES for any and all claims that you may have arising out of or in connection with this Product, whether made or suffered by your or another person and whether baswed in contract or tort."

I am sure the Motorola SURFboard® SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem is a very capable modem considering it is a Motorola product; however, I had to put 2 stars to get peoples attention. The Motorola SURFboard® SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem is not yet on COMCAST's list of supported modems. I thought that waiting 4 months since the release of this product would give COMCAST time to obtain the software required to add the SB6121 to their network. Well, I was wrong. It is a shame to give this product 2 stars when I never even got the chance run it through its paces. I would rather give COMCAST 2 stars for being lazy. The COMCAST tech that came to setup my modem said that the COMCAST system identified my modem; however, that was about it. He connected a different modem to show me that modems on the list will work. He said that he has a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem at home and that it works just fine. So unfortunately, I have to return the SB6121 and I ordered the SB6120. I am not slamming Amazon or this product. I just wanted to make COMCAST customers or future COMCAST customers aware that the SB6121 will not work on the COMCAST network YET.

I has having good success with a 3-year old Motorola Surfboard modem, but had been reading that newer modems = faster speeds without having to upgrade service. I checked with Cox Communications to see if the SB6121 was compatible with their service and they said it was so I ordered it.

Plugged it in and called them with the MAC & Serial numbers - was up and running in 6 minutes, including 3 minutes of hold time and a minute to restart my router and computer.

Ran a speed test through speedtest.net prior to switching modems. Old modem had PING of 27ms, 23.77Mbps download, 2.62Mbps upload.

New modem test 10 minutes later: PING 18mx, 41.19Mbps download, 4.33Mbps upload.

Not bad for a $100 investment and no additional charges from Cox.

Highly recommended if your provider is setup to operate with this modem. - Docsis 3 - Sb6120 - Surfboard - Comcast'

This review is from: Nikon Coolpix P100 10 MP Digital Camera with 26x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black)This is a very versatile camera and responsive to most needs. It has a good macro range to go along with a super zoom range. It compares well to a Panasonic DMC-GH1 which has a much larger sensor and more expensive optics (the lens alone is twice the price of this Nikon). The Panasonic also produced higher saturation and contrast shots in default mode and this gives the appearance of higher resolution. The Nikon gave a truer auto outdoor color balance and more natural contrast. Even at ISO 800 it was very sharp. You can enlarge a few test shots at the DPReview forums by searching for "Nikon P100 test shots". or if this works: [...]The two highlights that amazed me were the Nikon's focusing indicator system. It is so cool that when you shoot a bouquet of flowers the display shows you each blossom chosen by the matrix focusing system. You click the shutter with the knowledge that it is choosing what you want. Wonderful. The second highlight is the range of the optics from good macro, nice wide angle, and amazing telephoto. Please see the photos I uploaded showing how well this camera compares. What the Nikon lacks mostly comes down to smooth tones and fine detail at high ISOs; and this is only because it is being compared to a large sensor camera. The images would easily pass a fairly critical viewer on an 8x10 print and seem to be better than previous cameras with this size sensor. Pros (so far): Great focus indicator system, Display shows small green squares over selected objects for focus = ready to shoot, red square = not ready Light, easy to hold good fit to my medium sized hands. Articulated screen seems more natural than the swing out to the side screens (aligned with lens) Quick access to shoot videos, focus tracking option, slow motion (lower res 240 fps), Hugh zoom range and quite fast action, 1 ++ second end to end Outdoor sunlight colors quite natural Very good resolution lens for this price range and favorably compares to much more expensive lenses (see above photos, several are pieces of 16 x 20 prints) Very good macro versatility (see blowup of portion of terry towel above) Adequate viewfinder but very contrasty, necessary info in viewfinder.Cons (so far): When shooting a video the focus is not able to keep up with the zoom (I reduced my rating because of this). No RAW image option (less important with tools like Corel Image Adjustment Lab that gives me color temperature correction on jpg) Lens cap rather than auto protect system, must remember to take it off before turning on camera (your notified when you forget) Must use the menu system for several settings (ISO, color balance), slower but OK (hats off to the Canon G11, Panasonic) Fast zoom over big range means it is tricky to accurately crop a shot (same with others though) Would love to see a 'nudge' feature for small changes. Color balance with my photo fluorescent lights was tricky to dial in Quick shutter in most situations but not all No hot shoe for accessories and external flash Only an adequate viewfinder Minimum aperture of f8 (standard for cameras in this class, but would love to see it improved) Screen does not 'self protect' Must manually switch viewfinder verses LCD, simple one push button though

This review is from: Nikon Coolpix P100 10 MP Digital Camera with 26x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black)Ok, so I gave it a title that probably makes you wonder what I could possibly be talking about so here it is:1. a really wide angle lens (26mm) for those close up shots and scenery shots (you know, the church with all of the spires that you have to backup all the way around the block to get into the picture).2. a fantastic mechanical zoom lens that goes up to 678mm to bring in those distant shots (an with a tripod, the digital zoom puts you into the far objects pocket!). Keep in mind that with a zoom this large, holding it by hand is NOT going to produce a nice picture no matter how much stabilization is built into the camera!3. One handed camera that is easy to use with a single hand and light enough to do so all day!4. An articulated view screen that allows you to take pictures over the head of everyone crowding around the parade and s...
