This review is from: 10 Port USB 2.0 HubRolled the dice and bought....unfortunately didnt work for me. Device is made in China, it states Certified but by what and by whom? The packaging showed a Win 7 sort of icon but not an official microsoft compatibility label in any sort of manner. At first my pc wouldnt even boot up with the device attached. After a few retries it eventually did but it had all sorts of device errors by device manager. I tried to find newer driver but win 7 said device is on latest driver.Reverted back to my Belkin powered USB device and everything booted up fine. I did see other reviews where there were concerns about the usb connectors mine were ok but I wasnt planning on moving it around and the length of the usb cable was ok for my use too....if only the darn thing would have worked for me.Didnt work for me, the cost of returning it is about 1/2 of the purchase price as it was very inexpensive so not even going to bother with returning it.This is the first device I have used on my win 7 pc that ever had an issue. Your mileage may vary....
This review is from: 10 Port USB 2.0 HubI was skeptical of this item at first because most of these cheap usb hubs either come partially or completely defective. Every single port was working and all ports work at the same time! It can power every external hd or peripheral i throw at it. keep in mind, the power cable is pretty short. its long enough to reach a power outlet nearby your desk but thats it. if anything a small extension cord will solve this problem. And it this price nothing else beats it!!...
This review is from: 10 Port USB 2.0 HubThis Hub is cheaply made, but probably worth trying at the low price, just don't expect to load it heavily either in power demands or number of devices. This Hub always starts dropping and then discovering devices if more than five devices are plugged in. This doesn't appear to be a power problem because it happens even when 5 devices are low power devices such as thumb drives and the 6th is a external hard drive with it's own power supply. It also isn't a computer(Toshiba) software(windows 7 32bit) problem, because I've had upwards of ten USB devices attached with with other hubs that have far inferior form factors with no problems other than a complete loss of desk space.I like the form factor a lot and was glad to see the generous length of the USB cable and power cord, which has given me many options of placement but this is degraded by the hub's shallow sockets, which won't securely hold a USB cord or thumb drive unless the hub is mounted in such a way to allow gravity to help it stay in place.Overall I consider this product a near miss crippled by the poor USB sockets and possibly related hardware glitch of dropping/finding USB devices when more than half the sockets are used....
