Unfortunately, there is some unresolved issue with VIA units not being able to activate the lifetime map feature update through tomtom. See discussion forum here: [...]. Just wanted to give amazon customers a heads up - to avoid this unit until tomtom resolves there issues. The customer support has a tendency to quicky close tickets - they are burying their heads in the sand with this issue - and not being honest with customers - which is extremely annoying. My first experience with tomtom - not impressed......

The TomTom company sales great functions for this device but the sad reality it is this device has a lot unsolve issues. When you begin to discover the issues and call to the company the representatives do not have answers for the problems.Their answers is that this device it so advance. Also, they don't want you call again they send you to TomTom webside where you do not get any solution. It is like the stole your money from your hands with false functions of the device. My advice: Do not waste your money with device.TomTom VIA 1500TM 5.0 Lifetime Traffic & Maps Edition...
