What you can't see in the picture:1. It has a button on the handle for opening the lid. The lid is made of plastic, with a clear section in the center to see the inside.2. It has a button beneath the handle to turn on/off the boiler, which lights up when the boiler is on. There is a (not so loud) sound when water is boiled. Right under the handle on the pot, there is a plastic window that shows the water level, in ounces. 3. It's 1500 Watts, it boils water very fast. 4. Looks pretty big. And is kind of heavy. But all stainless steel pots are. Also it does get hot, like a stainless steel pot would.5. It doesn't look or feel cheap. No weird smell, and it was well packaged. Overall I'm very happy with it. I don't know how well it'll last, but so far it's been great....
This review is from: Breville Moda BKE450XL Cordless 1500 Watt 1.7-Liter Stainless Electric KettleI purchased this kettle 2 years ago from Starbucks and they've never restocked it and I've been looking for a 2nd kettle to keep as a spare because this is an awesome kettle. I've owned many electric kettles but no comparison to this one. This kettle is quiet, has a gentle sounding bell that goes off when the water is done, it's very sturdy, the stainless steel that it's made of is very thick, there's a button to open the lid, nice shape, not a pot-belly type of round kettle that tends to tip over and the water heats very quickly. I finally found the same kettle here on Amazon so I ordered it right away. I got the kettle a couple of days ago and was very dissappointed. The kettle arrived dented on the top edge. Looked like someone took a hammer to it. I know it was not damaged during shipping, because the double box that it came in had no sign of damage, it arrived intact. It was packed very securely. Looks like the company shipped it out damaged. How could the company not see that it was damaged...it's was so obvious. This is the first thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the box...I could see that the lid was dented. Now I have to pay to ship it back. I gave this kettle a "five-star" because of its quality, but will now go in and rate the company that it came from a "one-star"....
This review is from: Breville Moda BKE450XL Cordless 1500 Watt 1.7-Liter Stainless Electric KettleI just purchased this Breville stainless steel electric kettle to replace the GE one I had that developed a short in the plug, and I have to say I love this Breville model! I love the shape/design, the easy push button lid release, and the ingenious design of the plug! I love the tall narrow profile of the kettle because it takes up so much less counter space than my GE did. I no longer burn myself from the steam trying to get the lid off my kettle because this Breville model has a push button that easily releases the lid with just one touch. My GE kettle developed a short in the plug from pulling the cord out of the wall so frequently, but this Breville model has a finger hole at the base of the plug, where it attaches to the cord, which makes it easy to pull out of the electrical socket without straining the cord. Water heats up quickly, pours perfectly without mess, and makes the perfect cup of black tea! When making green tea I just let it sit for a few minutes before pouring it into the cup to steep. My only complaint is that the filter is made of plastic and I would much prefer it was also made of stainless steel (I checked my GE and it's filter is plastic too)....
